Our BS1363 UK Plug - IEC 320 C19 Right Angle Power Cable 2.5m is constructed on 1.5mm2 H05VV-F cable rated at 16 Amps
The BS 1363 plug has two horizontal rectangular pins for live and neutral, above these pins is a larger vertical pin for an earth connection. The earth pin is necessary for use of the BS 1363 plug, as it is needed to push open a shutter in the socket which allows the live and neutral pins to be inserted, it also polarises the plug ensuring that the live pin is connected to the correct terminal in the socket
IEC 320 C19 and C20 connectors are oblong with three pins or sockets and are rated at 16 Amps. Generally they are used for high power servers, UPS's, PDU's and some HP / Cisco equipment.
They are not to be confused with the smaller C13 and C14 (Kettle Connectors) which are only rated at 10 Amps
